Highpoint Lowlife

Highpoint Lowlife records started as an idle daydream atop Potrero Hill. Two bums by the names of Joey Hurt and Thorsten Sideb0ard were running a local dj night in a bar, where they would play a mixture of new and local indie pop, rock and electronica. Inspired by the success of their club night, they decided to push forward with the idea of the record label. The daydream came to fruition with a double disc compilation of local San Francisco bands that summer of 2001. Continuing that dream, Highpoint Lowlife strives to bring you the best in new alternative music. You can check out our website for more information.

London based Chris Coode has released a substantial body of work under the name of Motion, from a split EP with Matmos on Fat Cat records, then a self released album entitled 'Pictures', he was soon discovered by Taylor Deupree's 12k label, releasing 'Dust' in 2001 to good acclaim, and now follows with a second album on 12k called 'Every Action'. With Chris' Recon project, he retains his subtle and immediate control of the music, his trademark balance of controlled noise and texture, but allows...

Marshall Watson's follow up release to last years album. Where "The Time Was Later Than He Expected" could have been described as a summer album, this is a glacial mixture of slow burning electronica and icy melodies.

Chris Douglas, embodied at various times as O.S.T., Rook Vallard(e), and Dalglish on imprints ranging from Dimitri Fergadis' Phthalo to Simballrec, Plug Research, Diskono, Worm Interface, and Emanate, works in sound parameters lying outside established electronic and dance music paradigms - the emasculated noisepunk of laptop glitch, the cleanroom-stale micro patterns of tech-house and minimal techno - to uncover the uncomfortable, the confrontation. Douglas left San Francisco after years in...

randomNumber - 'The Soul Goes A' Duller' EP Matt Robson, he of past notoriety through his involvement in a number of influential bands (Coping Saw, Rauschen, Hood), has, of more recent years been honing his fine craft of fusing hyperactive electronic beat programming with an uncanny sense of emotial depth from manipulated, processed and pummelled digital melodies.
